5 Effective Strategies for Technology
Integration, Focus on English Language
Learners: Technology is quickly changing how
our students read, write and speak. Regardless
of ethnicity or culture, these digital natives are
carrying cell phones, chatting online and have
even invented their own written language know
as texting! Students today love to communicate
with technology, so why not integrate a little bit into
your curriculum? This presentation will cover 5
effective uses of technology that any teacher can integrate. Free templates and other resources will be shared with all participants.

All of our students are “screenagers” and “media junkies” – this class will share actual lesson plans and workflows to engage your students in proven, meaningful, outcome based activities that will lead to higher CSTs. Learn simple and FREE workflows that allow teachers to use all the media available on the internet to accelerate learning in language arts. We will cover: Teaching literary devices with commercials gathered from YouTube and Google video (Included lesson plans will cover characterization, four types of conflict, irony and foreshadowing). We’ll also cover the tools necessary to gather and store all of these video clips and commercials, as well as web resources and even books (!) that assist in this 21st century style of teaching and learning. |

Cell Phones and the Connected Classroom As ubiquitous as cell phones are today, why not incorporate them into classroom activities that promote teaching and learning? Learn to make use of these pocket computers owned by most middle and high school students. We will discuss issues and concerns related to cell phones in schools and explore using phones as data collecting tools, audio recorders, digital cameras, and student polling devices. We will also explore how future phone features might play a roll in learning.
